What’s your goal? Here’s an Idea

Is your New Year’s Resolution every year to lose weight? Why not try something different… Get the focus off of weight loss and on being more active.

Pick a workout program and be committed to sticking to it for the full 90 days or whatever the program asks for. Make it your goal to improve with the program. After the 1st month you’ll be able to jump that much higher, or do that many more push ups, or do push ups from on your toes instead of your knees.

Make it your goal to do a 5k or 10k… Did you know you can walk a 5k? Make it your goal to walk a 5k, then make it your goal to get a better time than last time…. IMG_3353.2

Anyone want to run the Disneyland Half Marathon with me in September? Winking smile

The whole idea behind this is as you work toward this goal of living an active life, training for something, committing to a program… as you work on this, other things will fall into place. You will want to eat better so you can perform better. As you eat better you’ll feel like pushing yourself harder.

I think sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves to lose weight, which can sometimes make it harder to lose weight. And if you’re like me when I didn’t reach my weight loss goals I would get crushed, and go backwards.

If you want to make it your goal to lose weight that’s great too. My advice is to remember to make realistic goals. You’re not on biggest loser, 5-10 pounds in a week is not likely – and not particularly healthy. I’ve had a few 4.5lbs weeks, but that took a lot of work! And getting my calories right on! Also, make a plan. You can’t just say I want to lose 30lbs and leave it at that. You need to figure out how you can reach that goal.
